Cynthia Levin

Cynthia Levin
Founder of connect kids YOGA

I have been working passionately with children for more than 24 years. Over this time, I have made a positive difference in the lives of many children. Completing my Diploma in Child Studies in 1992, I followed my dream and love of kids into the early learning sector, educating and nurturing for over 16 years.

It was during this time, I became the mother of 3 beautiful daughters, Grace, Hannah and Molly, now aged 17, 15 and 13. It was not long after having Grace, my first daughter nearly 18 years ago, that I attended my very first yoga class and the start of my amazing yoga journey began. I developed and explored my own practice over the next 11 years, while raising my girls and introducing them to 'the other love of my life' ~ Yoga!

Realising the positive difference yoga made to my life, I embarked on a mission to join together my two passions; kids and yoga.

I am a trained and certified children's Yoga Teacher, specialising in yoga for children in their early years (0 -6yo). I completed my children's yoga teacher training with Loraine Rushton from Zenergy Yoga, including a Mastery in Kids Yoga, Kids Yoga Therapy and Kids Yoga Therapy for Special Needs.  I have also trained with children's yoga pioneer, Jodi Komitor, from Next Generation Yoga and with the Byron Yoga Centre (200hr RYS).

My passion for yoga and children in their early years continues to grow and develop and the connect kids YOGA program reflects this passion, enthusiasm and commitment to inspire little minds and bodies to believe in and connect to their brightness within, encouraging them to shine from the inside out.

Favourite thing about teaching yoga to children

My absolute favourite is the positive difference I get to make.  When I walk into a centre and the children excitedly call out yoga! Seeing their happy excited faces, brings a warm fussy feeling.  They just love yoga & I love them!

What makes me laugh the most:

My family.  They are a bunch of comedians.

One thing I couldn't go a day without (besides necessities)?

Hugs

connect kids YOGA team - Mariana

Hi, I'm Mari

I am a joyful and passionate Brazilian that has been living in Australia for the past 10 years. It was through the challenges of living abroad that I found Yoga and Meditation. These practices helped me grow stronger, more present and aware of my body, mind and breath.

Moving more consciously through life, I discovered my passion for working with children and I love the way they can connect to yoga. I am currently studying Early Childhood Education - Certificate III, have completed last year both the 200YTT and kids training and now very excited to be part of connect kids YOGA team.

I love sharing the wisdom that changed my life and watch it change the lives of others. My aim as a teacher is to bring great awareness to body, mind and breath, through an educational, calming and fun class.

Dee

Hi, I'm Dee

I am thrilled to be a part of the connect kids YOGA teaching team.

I have lived in Ireland, London, New York and Massachusetts over the last decade, & discovered nannying, performing children's shows, bikram yoga and meditation on my travels – I have wanted to combine my passion for children and that of creating union and connection.

I moved home to Sydney and trained as a children's yoga teacher and studied meditation facilitation.

As a teacher I love to help children learn to celebrate their body, mind, and spirit in fun, safe and engaging ways.

My teaching style brings joy and I love encouraging positive relationships with the children.

connect kids YOGA team - Raewyn

Hi, I'm Raewyn

and I am a Kids Yoga and Vinyasa Yoga Teacher. I am a mother of a gorgeous two and a half year old little girl and an advocate of Yoga for children, having seen the benefits of a regular practice first hand with my own child. I have been practising Yoga for over 18 years. I started practising Yoga with my mother and have enjoyed the bond that has created for us. I have a passion for women's health and I continued my studies in Pre and Post-Natal Yoga and Yoga for babies and children. I was first attracted to teaching yoga after my pregnancy. I had a challenging pregnancy and found teaching yoga an inspiring way to connect back in, build my confidence and build community. Kids Yoga is one of my favourite styles of yoga to teach. I love working with children and watching the growth that occurs for children when practising Yoga, such as increased self confidence, improved concentration and a greater connection with their families, peers and community.

Favourite thing about teaching yoga to children

My favourite part of teaching kids yoga is how the children embrace the yoga concepts and philosophies with far fewer barriers than adults. Building connection with children through yoga is a gift. The benefits of Kids yoga are incredible and it is a honour to watch self confidence, self worth and self connection, within the children, grow in front of your eyes

Aisling - bio pic

Hi, I'm Aisling

I was born a mover. At the age of 2, I started ballet and continued to dance my entire life. I love to travel and explore the world. My favourite place that I have visited is East Africa and also I would have to say Antarctica. Although there is less travelling the world these days and more adventures to the park or beach with my two amazing little humans, Nova and Houston. I love exploring and seeing the world through their eyes as they learn and grow. In my free time I love to catch up with friends and family and of course, practice yoga!

Favourite thing about teaching yoga to children

I love seeing the kids really connect with themselves (mind and body) and also connect with each other and I can't leave out seeing their smiling faces.

My favourite book:

Brene Brown "The Gifts of Imperfection" and "Rising Strong"

What makes me laugh the most:

My favourite yoga pose:

So blessed to have been trained by the amazingly talented Jodi Komitor from Next Generation kids yoga.

Favourite thing about teaching

I love that Yoga visibly creates stillness and calm to the busiest of minds. It’s an honour being a part of that, helping them to increase their self esteem, self regulate their emotions and teach them skills and values through yoga lessons that they can carry through their life. I have seen how Yoga has done this with my son.

My favourite quote is:

If it’s meant to be, it’s up to me.

My favourite food is:

Thai

Who's my hero:

My mother without a doubt. Her love and support is limitless and I consider her to be one of my best friends. I am so thankful for the woman she is.

What's your favourite book?

Spirit Junkie by Gabrielle Bernstein

What makes me laugh the most:

A good comedy or stand up comedian or sometimes it’s just something silly that my son and I are talking about and we both start laughing

One thing I couldn't go a day without (besides necessities)?

A hug from my son and hearing him randomly call out “I love you Mum.”

My favourite yoga pose:

Supta Virasana with a bolster behind back to help open the chest. Very relaxing to ‘just be’ in this pose and breathe.

I'm a nature-lover and animal-lover at heart, with a strong love for vintage cars. Put me barefoot in the bush with my 1970's Kombi named Cosmo and I'm a happy camper! I also have a strong passion for anything creative and find myself crocheting and dancing my days away with my sweet little fur baby, my much loved cat named Gypsy Heart.

connect kids YOGA team - Kate

Hi, I'm Kate

I am a Mum of two young children and my favourite thing to do as a family is to spend quality time together out in nature. I love the way nature can calm the whole family and bring it together to appreciate the simple joys of life. Other things that sparks my heart is when I see my 5 yr old daughter decide to roll out a yoga mat and practise yoga and also when she reminds me to "take deep breaths Mum and calm down" when I am stressing over something.

I am enthusiastic to be a part of the connect kids YOGA team . I am fully qualified yoga and children’s yoga teacher who has been teaching children in various forms for over 10 years. I am passionate about having a positive impact on children’s life and believe that every child deserves opportunities to learn skills, such as yoga and mindfulness, that can help them to not only cope but also to thrive throughout their lives.
